Finding Rhythm Together:
African and Latin percussion sessions
Finding Rhythm Together are workshops run by accomplished, professional African and Latin percussionists.
They are a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in African or Latin drumming and are available to beginner, intermediate and proficient drummers. Drumming is a very inclusive form of music that anyone can have a go at. During the workshop, participants learn how to match the rhythms they produce with those of others. This is an excellent way to develop listening skills, teamwork and creativity as well as improving rhythm and co-ordination. All are encouraged to put their own compositions together for the grand finale where participants can experience how their own work interacts with others to produce an even bigger and better sound.
African Drumming
These workshops are dedicated to West African drumming rhythms and percussion music from Senegal, Gambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea and particularly rhythms associated with Djembe, Sabar and talking drums.
Latin Drumming
Participants can learn traditional Brazilian instruments and will have a chance to work with a variety of Latin instruments such as pandeiru, ganza, surdo, agogo, tamborim, cuica and berimbau.
Drumming is an accessible activity to all members of the community, including those who are often excluded due to physical or mental health difficulties.
